Calling all PhDs, Postdocs, and Professors Abroad!

As mentioned by Minister Sayasat Nurbek during our annual meeting in June 2025, QIST association has recently launched a new partnership collaboration with the Bolashak Program, specifically focused on their recently introduced initiative: short-term research fellowships in laboratories of leading global institutions. To enhance the quality of the fellowships, Bolashak now directly contacts the Principal Investigator (PI) or professor of the host laboratory that invites the Kazakhstani candidate. Of course, compensation or support will be provided to the host lab, the supervising professor, the invited fellow, or mentors from our association. However, for many selected candidates, it remains a significant challenge to find a laboratory or PI willing to host them.

This is where our porfessional association can make a real impact. As you can see in the attached image above, now our association includes 150+ members from 30+ countries, including 28 established scholars and PIs, 21 postdoctoral researchers, and 51 PhD candidates.  Many of our members — including the professors listed below — have already expressed interest in identifying and mentoring strong Kazakhstani candidates by welcoming them into their own laboratories or referring them to other suitable research groups and association already conducted six interviews, resulting in the selection of three outstanding candidates — one for University College London (UCL) and two for the Chinese Academy of Sciences.

If your PI is looking for extra hands and open to hosting highly motivated, competitively selected (with your help) Kazakhstani researchers — this is a great initiative to support emerging scientific talent while fostering collaboration. The program allows you to welcome motivated researchers into your team, learn technique and potentially co-author high-quality publications together — all while contributing to the global integration of Kazakhstani science.

Already, researchers have been selected in leading labs (see photo) at UCL and the Chinese Academy of Sciences and others are in a pending phase.
